Lisa Kay Forgione McLellan

Lisa McLellan has taught physical sciences since 2003. She currently teaches Environmental Science, Advanced Placement Chemistry and Honors Chemistry.

Lisa’s passion for science and philosophy of learning by doing, make her classroom active and engaging.  Students expect to be challenged, take risks, and tackle guided inquiry laboratory problems.  Lisa sets high standards of achievement and builds strong laboratory and problem solving skills in her students. She is proud of all the students she has inspired to pursue science careers.

Beyond the classroom, Lisa has coached Science Olympiad, Science Bowl, and American Chemical Society Chemistry Olympiad competitions. Her students have placed at the top in statewide chemistry competitions in each of the ten years she has been coaching. Lisa has also taken students on science learning expeditions to Ecuador, the Galapagos Islands, Costa Rica, and sailing in the British Virgin Islands.

Lisa's work as a professional learning group leader helped build a network of reflective educators. She writes science curriculum and leads workshops for her peers. Lisa has mentored new service teachers and pre-service teachers.

Lisa has an M.S.Ed. with a concentration in Curriculum Design and Instructional Strategies from the University of New England. She also earned a B.S., summa cum laude, in Biology from the University of Southern Maine. She is certified in grades 7-12 physical science and 6-12 life science instruction in the state of Maine, has attended current AP Chemistry training and teaches a College Board approved AP Chemistry course.
